Arrange the last part of the landing

Schoolhouse Bay is at Resolution Bay on the Queen Charlotte Track. You can arrive by walking, mountain biking or boat, but there is no jetty at the campsite. DOC identifies the nearby Resolution Bay jetty and a walking connection across private land with a separate fee. Ask about that last part of the journey before booking transport, particularly when carrying bulky equipment.

Carry a complete overnight kit

The camp provides non-powered tent space, non-flush toilets and untreated tap water. Pack cooking equipment and a way to boil drinking water, and do not assume a nearby building supplies additional amenities. Keep your load appropriate for the track connection even if most of the journey is by boat. Organise waste storage from the outset so leaving camp does not require improvised packaging.

Read the track notice as well as the booking

The active landslip notice concerns the track above Tawa Bay, between Resolution Inlet and Furneaux Lodge. Check whether your approach uses that section and follow DOC's instruction to cross affected areas cautiously without lingering. Reserve the campsite in advance and budget separately for private access and transport. Leave dogs behind, and do not turn a confirmed campsite booking into an assumption that every connecting route is straightforward.

Check the official campsite information for current restrictions, facilities and booking arrangements.
