5 things to do
Wanaka
Enjoy the lakefront and surrounding mountain landscape from Wanaka town. A relaxed lakeside visit is distinct from the region's demanding mountain tracks.
Admission has not been confirmed. Check current visitor information, including transport and optional extras.
Choose public lake access and check local conditions before adding any on-water activity.
Queenstown
Queenstown's lake and mountain setting offers sightseeing from shore as well as booked boat experiences. Leave time to enjoy the waterfront rather than only moving between activities.
Admission has not been confirmed. Check current visitor information, including transport and optional extras.
Check each operator's meeting point for lake trips; lake weather can differ from conditions in town.
Near Dunedin
Choose a guided wildlife visit around the peninsula, known for albatross and penguin experiences. Each encounter has its own site, timing and seasonal possibilities.
Admission has not been confirmed. Check current visitor information, including transport and optional extras.
Use an appropriate wildlife operator, respect viewing boundaries and do not expect guaranteed sightings.
North Dunedin
Explore the upper and lower garden collections, from established trees to seasonal flower displays. The hillside setting offers different routes, so choose a section that fits your available time and mobility.
General garden admission is free; optional purchases and special events are separate.
Use the garden map to distinguish upper and lower routes. Check glasshouse access and local conditions before adding specific stops.
Queenstown
Ride above Queenstown for a broad view across Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains. The gondola viewpoint, luge and dining packages are different choices, not one identical experience.
Gondola admission is paid; luge, dining and upgrade packages have different inclusions.
Check operating conditions, the selected package and separate activity restrictions. Parking and optional attractions can change the total cost.
Free refers to general entry or the named self-guided visit, not a whole day's costs. Transport, parking and extras may be additional. Check admission where residency or ticket choices differ.
