About nearby results

Nearby calculations stay in this page's memory. Your precise browser location is not stored or added to links. Leaving or reloading clears it. When opened, the map fetches OpenStreetMap tiles for the visible area. Distances are straight-line estimates to reference points, not driving distances, track lengths or verified entrances. Town references are approximate locality centres, not your position. Not a navigation tool. 13 of 15 campsites have checked reference points. Parks without a checked point remain in the directory but cannot match a distance radius. Pine Beach and Promenade Point share an approximate Lake Taharoa point.

Where this selection covers

An explicit selection around Rotorua, Okareka, Tarawera and Rerewhakaaitu, drawn from Bay of Plenty records. It excludes Tauranga, the coast and Taupo. Some lake campsites need a different approach from a drive-in holiday park; read the individual access guide.

15 published campground records. Facilities and prices on the cards are dated source records, not live vacancies. Unknown means unverified, not absent. Read the notes and confirm with the operator before booking.

Compare the exact lake and access

Lake Okareka, Tarawera and Rerewhakaaitu are separate destinations, not interchangeable campground entrances. Check how you reach the selected camp and which camping modes its record supports.

Plan around the facilities you need

If power or showers are essential, use an explicit recorded yes and read the accompanying note. A lakeside setting or a thermal name does not establish a powered pitch, bathing access or a communal kitchen.

Regional source checks

Selection context checked 12 October 2026. Individual campsite checks retain the dates shown on their cards; this is not a fresh audit of every facility or tariff.
