A named loop through Whareroa's remnant kohekohe forest, returning along the farm race without taking the longer hill routes.
Pick the forest circuit on the map
Start your planning with the Forest Loop subsection of DOC's Whareroa page. It is a distinct named route, not the Stream Loop, coastal lookout or a farm-wide combination. Use the main entrance near the Queen Elizabeth Park interchange and identify the forest route before walking. The published time and distance apply to the described loop. Add separate time for getting ready, resting and any detour rather than borrowing the shortest estimate from another Whareroa walk.
Return along the farm race
The route passes through remnant kohekohe forest and returns along the farm race. That change between forest and farm makes a contained outing without requiring an ascent to the higher viewpoints. Follow the signed return rather than assuming every uphill track eventually completes the same circuit. DOC calls this a walking track, but the page-wide list includes several difficulty categories. No individual easy classification has been inferred here, and the Stream Loop's wheelchair statement does not transfer to this route.
Check facilities before committing
The main toilets at the farm car park are closed, so plan a suitable stop before starting. The listed alternatives are at Queen Elizabeth Park Visitor Centre or farther into the farm at the Hub. Dogs are not allowed. Longer farm connections have separate access restrictions, including a closed section of Campbell's Mill Road; they are not necessary for this forest circuit. Review current signs and notices, carry water and a weather layer, and finish the planned loop before considering any extension.
Read the official track description and notices immediately before travelling. The source-check date is not a live access or safety report.
