Not Mount Cook Village
Glentanner is on the Mount Cook Road near Lake Pukaki, on a working high-country station rather than inside Mount Cook Village. It provides a camping base for exploring the Aoraki area while returning to shared facilities. Allow for the road journey to walks and visitor services, and do not equate a mountain view with immediate access to a trailhead.
Arrive with supplies organised
The park has powered camping, showers, a communal kitchen and laundry, but explicitly lacks a grocery store, fuel and a dump station. Stock up and attend to vehicle servicing in a suitable town beforehand. The cafe is not a substitute for a full resupply shop. Bring payment suitable for the laundry and allow mountain weather to shape any sightseeing plans.
Check current site availability, arrival instructions and the full quote with Glentanner Park Centre before travelling.
