Walk-, cycle- or boat-access tent camping on the Grove Arm of Queen Charlotte Sound.
Choose a carrying plan for Grove Arm
Davies Bay is a waterfront camping stop on the Grove Arm of Queen Charlotte Sound. Access is on foot, by bike or by boat, so this is not a drive-in alternative to the road-served Sounds campgrounds. Decide how the group will carry its gear for the actual arrival point. A boat journey still needs a workable landing and return arrangement independent of the campsite reservation.
Use the shelter as shelter
DOC lists a cooking shelter, non-flush toilets and untreated tap water. Bring your own stove and utensils: a covered cooking space does not establish supplied appliances or cookware. Plan drinking-water boiling alongside meal preparation and keep dry sleeping gear protected throughout the journey. The no-fire rule means an evening campfire should not be part of either the cooking plan or the reason for choosing this stop.
Book the night and verify the approach
Reserve before travel because DOC does not keep spaces for unbooked arrivals. Check road conditions for the landward journey to your walking, cycling or boating departure point; the camp's non-road access does not eliminate that part of planning. Leave dogs at home and retain the booking offline. Build enough flexibility into onward travel that changing conditions do not force a rushed return.
