Identify the Kaweka Cameron campground
This Cameron is beside the Ngaruroro River and Napier-Taihape Road near Kuripapango. It is not the South Island's Cameron Flat and it is separate from the nearby Ox Bow campground. Include the region when sharing the destination or checking navigation. Its main-road position can suit a deliberately planned overnight between longer driving stages, without assuming that it has the services of a roadside holiday park.
Assess the actual pitch on arrival
DOC lists basic non-powered camping and vehicle access, but neither describes an individually reserved pitch. Look at current ground conditions, access and signs before unpacking. Keep the setup within the designated campground and leave vehicle movements clear for others. If the available space does not suit the party or conditions, use another lawful option rather than treating nearby river margins as overflow camping ground.
Do not invent a tariff or facilities
The opened page does not state a nightly fee, so confirm payment arrangements with DOC instead of assuming that the Basic label means free. Stream water and a non-flush toilet are the verified essentials. Bring cooking equipment and drinking water or treatment. Check any planned Kaweka outing separately, and do not read the limited permit-based dog exception as general permission to bring family pets on holiday.
Check the official campsite information for current restrictions, facilities and booking arrangements.
