Torso and hipbelt fit
Use the brand's measurement guide and the exact size or Extended Fit range. Height alone is not a reliable pack-size selector.
Kathmandu / Backpacks
Fit the pack to your body and your complete load. Capacity alone will not tell you how it carries.

Backpacks buying advice
Use the brand's measurement guide and the exact size or Extended Fit range. Height alone is not a reliable pack-size selector.
Test the loaded pack in store where possible. Check hipbelt contact, shoulder movement and access to pockets, not just the empty weight.
Check whether a raincover is included and how the manufacturer describes water resistance. Do not assume a raincover makes the contents waterproof.
From first use to the next trip
Follow the brand's torso and hipbelt sizing instructions, then adjust the harness with a realistic load.
Allow room for water, food, layers and emergency equipment. Try opening and closing the pack with everything inside before leaving.
Use the model's cleaning instructions. Inspect seams, straps and buckles, and dry thoroughly before storing.
Care & repair · Kathmandu
Kathmandu product-care guide libraryManufacturer care-guide index for tents, backpacks, down or synthetic sleeping bags and hiking boots, not an exact-product manual. Choose the section matching your product and material; boot guidance is not automatically applicable to sandals or accessories. The original manual and care label take precedence, including for other brands sold by Kathmandu.
Common buying questions
Use torso length and the hipbelt fit range first. Two people of the same height can need different harness sizes.
Only if you need that space and the load stays within the manufacturer's guidance. Fit, carry system and access can matter more than a few extra litres.
Check the cover and pack limitations. Keep essential dry items in appropriate waterproof protection rather than relying on a cover alone.
