Cooking buying advice

Before you buy

Choose a camping stove

Boiling or cooking?

Consider whether you mainly rehydrate food or need controlled simmering and a separate pan. Check usable fill limits, not just pot capacity.

Compatible fuel and cookware

Identify the exact fuel, connector and pot support required. Confirm whether the price includes the pot, fuel bottle, stabiliser or other accessories.

The complete carried system

Compare stove, pot and lid weights on the same basis, then add fuel and required accessories. Manufacturer boil times are not a promise in every condition.

Use, care & repair

01Read the matching manual

Identify the model and generation before use. For stoves, follow all fuel-connection and clearance requirements; for cookware and utensils, use the applicable material and care instructions.

02Cook outdoors only

Never operate a fuel-burning stove in a tent, vestibule, vehicle or other enclosed space. Carbon monoxide, fire and burns are serious risks.

03Maintain and transport safely

Follow the manual for cooling, storage and maintenance. Check your airline or transport operator's rules for stoves and fuel before travel.

    Scope & source notes

Manufacturer FAQ library with separate tent, stove, cookware, reservoir and filter sections, not a manual for every listed product. Use only the matching section; fuel, cleaning, freezing and repair procedures cannot be transferred between models. The original model manual takes precedence. Common buying questions

Good to know

Can I use a camping stove in my tent porch?

No. Fuel-burning stoves must not be used in a tent or vestibule. Follow the manufacturer's outdoor-use and clearance requirements.

Can I use any gas canister or pan?

No. Follow the exact fuel, connector and cookware specifications in the manual. Similar-looking parts do not establish safe compatibility.

Is the listed weight the whole cooking kit?

Check which components the weight includes. Fuel, a pot, supports and a bottle may be excluded, depending on the product.
