Pack accessories buying advice

Before you buy

Pack for a New Zealand day hike

Usable fit

Compare the loaded pack's shape and attachment points with the accessory, not just litre capacity.

Water protection

Check the stated sealing and water-resistance limits. A packing cell or pack cover is not automatically a waterproof dry bag.

From first use to the next trip

Use, care & repair

01Practise packing

Test closures and access with a complete load, including water and emergency equipment.

02Inspect seals

Clean, dry and check coatings, buckles and closures as instructed.

Common buying questions

Good to know

Does a raincover make a pack waterproof?

Not necessarily. Check its limitations and protect essential dry items separately.

Can I use any attachment clip?

Verify the manufacturer's attachment and load guidance before connecting equipment.
