Beam for the task
Consider close-up camp tasks, trail use and whether a red or low-output mode is useful. Maximum output may be temporary.

Lighting buying advice
Before you buy
Power for the whole trip
Check battery type, charging connector and runtime at the mode you will use. Include spare power in the packed weight.
Weather protection
Read the published water-resistance conditions and limitations; do not assume a rating covers immersion or every port configuration.
From first use to the next trip
Use, care & repair
01Test modes and locks
Practise controls and the travel lock before departure. Check charge and carry backup lighting where the trip requires it.
02Inspect after use
Dry and clean as instructed, checking seals, battery contacts and charging ports before storage.
Care & repair · Black Diamond
Black Diamond product care and manual-finding FAQsScope & source notes
General brand support guidance, not exact-SKU instructions. Select only the relevant lighting, pole or protective-equipment section; the page explains where product manuals are supplied. The applicable product manual takes precedence. Do not transfer cleaning procedures between electronics, metal hardware and textiles. This is not a substitute for required training or inspection, or evidence of NZ warranty coverage.
Common buying questions
Good to know
Is the brightest light always the best choice?
No. Useful beam shape, lower modes, runtime and comfort matter. Check whether maximum brightness is sustained or a short boost.
Can I use it while charging?
Only if the exact model's instructions permit it. Charging and water-resistance limitations may differ from normal use.
